General Membership Meeting - February 2020
Speaking at today's luncheon will be Dr. Keith Marty and Mark Miles.
Dr. Keith Marty has been Parkway superintendent since July 1, 2011. A public educator for 44 years, he previously served four school districts in Wisconsin as a teacher, high school principal, curriculum director, assistant superintendent and superintendent.
Married for 43 years, Keith and his wife Diana have four grown children and eight grandchildren.
Under Dr. Marty’s leadership, Project Parkway, the district’s strategic plan, continues to be implemented. Full day kindergarten is now in place, and important boundary changes were made to relieve overcrowding in several schools. Student achievement continues to increase; Parkway ranks in the top two percent of school districts with the state’s MSIP 5 standards. Financially, Parkway School District remains AAA- rated; strong steps have been put in place to assure financial stability. Major renovations have occurred from two successful bond campaigns. In his tenure, four schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools, and 12 schools and the school district have been named State and National Schools of Character. In 2017, Parkway School District was named a National District of Character.
In March of 2015, Superintendent Marty received a St. Louis Business Journal Innovation Award for his noteworthy leadership of the new experiential learning opportunities in Parkway.
Parkway has partnered with numerous businesses, companies, corporations and other entities who support Parkway’s academics, fine arts and athletic programs, as well as support professional development and student opportunities.
Dr. Mark Miles has more than 20 years in public education, serving the last seven as superintendent of the highly rated Indian Hill Exempted Village School District in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role, he provides leadership and direction for championing a united vision of academic excellence and student development, improving student performance in a high‐achieving district and ensuring the effective and efficient use of fiscal resources. He understands the importance of community engagement and encourages a participatory, team-focused leadership style. A native Missourian, Dr. Miles is excited to be home and joining the Rockwood School District.
