Even during the most inclement weather or simply during normal temperatures, Chesterfield residents have access to a wide variety of indoor facilities, such as YMCA, Jewish Community Center, Ozzie’s Sports Academy, SkyZone Sports Fusion, Bounce U, the Hardee’s Iceplex ice rink, and for young tumblers, My Gym. In addition, there are many tennis, racquetball, and health and exercise clubs located in and around the Chesterfield area. Some of them include The Chesterfield Athletic Club at the DoubleTree Hotel, the Forest Lake Swim and Tennis Club, 24-Hour Fitness and Lifetime Fitness.
West County Family YMCA
The YMCA, located on the Chesterfield Parkway, has more than 84,000 square-feet of space for its many attractions. The facility features a full-size gymnasium and indoor running track, martial arts, basketball courts and a strength and training center with cardio and free weight equipment. Rounding out the list are a 25-meter swimming pool with eighth lanes, an on-site early childhood development program with preschool classes, and a 370-seat performing arts theater that offers arts and humanities classes. During the summer, the YMCA hosts a number of day camps, including drama and traditional summer day camp programs.
Organized sports for children include soccer, T-ball and basketball. Organized adult leagues include basketball and volleyball. The Dierberg Family Hub at West County Family YMCA features a crafts area, a karaoke, air hockey, pool tables and a movie screen.
Jewish Community Center
The “J”, located at the corner of Baxter and Wild Horse Creek roads, is a 70,000 square-foot facility featuring a state-of-the-art fitness center with the latest cardio equipment and free weights, a gymnasium with two full basketball courts and elevated track, and new Specialty Fitness Studios dedicated to indoor cycling, mind/body/yoga, reformer Pilates and performance training. The J offers personal training, dozens of weekly group exercise classes, and a wide range of recreational sports leagues for kids and adults. Swimmers enjoy the six-lane indoor lap pool and an outdoor water park. Free babysitting is offered with a family membership.
Ozzie Smith’s Sports Academy
Located in the Chesterfield Valley Ozzie Smith’s Sports Academy is St. Louis’ finest indoor teaching and training facility. For more than 20 years, Ozzie’s has trained youth and adults in the sports of baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer. Ozzie’s offers year round sports camps, private and group lessons, indoor batting cages, team practices and clinics, sports training areas and rentals, and birthday parties. Ozzie’s provides expert instruction in a positive environment and has produce 143 scholarship athletes and 25 professional athletes. Anyone can be better at Ozzie’s!
SkyZone
Whether you are a kid or a kid at heart, Skyzone offers the perfect combination of fun and entertainment. It is the place for parents and children to participate in a fun activity together and get a great workout at the same time. Skyzone also offers birthday party packages that include everything, so you can be a guest at your own party!
Chesterfield Sports Fusion
This entertainment mecca combines a number of activities for all ages under one roof. If 40 or more arcade games don’t pique your interest, maybe a game of indoor miniature gold or laser tag is more your style. Other activities include an obstacle course, basketball court and a rock climbing wall.
Hardee’s Iceplex
Located at the I-64/Highway 40 and Boones Crossing exit in Chesterfield, Hardee’s Iceplex is the largest ice-skating facility in Missouri and one of the largest facilities in the Midwest. It has two professional sized arenas and a showcase Olympic-size arena with a seating capacity of 2,200 people.
BounceU
BounceU, located in Chesterfield Valley, is the premier indoor party and play facility featuring inflatables and other games. Specializing in great birthday parties, there are several packages to choose from to fit all budgets. Parties are private, safe and fun and can be customized to your needs: or all-inclusive and completely hassle free. In addition to private parties, BounceU hosts fundraisers, field trips and summer camps; and has specific time schedules for open bounce time for family fun.
Chesterfield Athletic Club
Since 1974, the Chesterfield Athletic Club has provided a friendly, private club atmosphere for families and individuals of all ages. Committed to health and wellness of mind and body, this premier tennis, fitness and wellness facility located behind DoubleTree Hotel on Swingley Ridge Road has more than 90,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor tennis, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, cardio and weight rooms, personal training, fitness classes, a yoga studio, racquetball and basketball courts, sand volleyball and much more. Year-round tennis clinics, lessons, and leagues are available as well as childcare, summer kids’ camp and swim team.
My Gym
My Gym offers noncompetitive, gymnastics-based programs for children ages 6 weeks to 11 years. The weekly, age-appropriate classes enhance motor, social and cognitive skills. And they are fun! My Gym also offers birthday parties, summer camps and parents’ night out.
Golf Facilities
Golf enthusiasts have a myriad of courses throughout the area from which to choose. From driving ranges to public and private courses, golfers can enjoy facilities close to home. Public courses include Landings at Spirit – 18 holes, Ballwin Golf Club – 9 holes, Creve Coeur – 9 holes, and Missouri Bluffs – 18 holes. Private courses include Forest Hills Country Club, Four Seasons Country Club, and Meadowbrook Country Club.
Central Park
Central Park is a 38-acre park that features Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center, Which includes a 25-yard competitive pool, a leisure pool with slides and children’s play structure, splash playground, lazy river and two slides. The playground contains two play components for kids, swing sets, benches, picnic, tables and umbrellas. The 75-seat pavilion is also available for rent.
Chesterfield Amphitheater is the newest music and entertainment destination in St. Louis County. Located within Central Park, the open-air amphitheater is completely unique to the St. Louis region. The lush landscaping, beautifully designed terraces and state-of-the-art technology provides acoustic perfection for any performance. The scenic wooded trails, stream walks and lakes that surround the venue beautifully compliment an idyllic setting for any even including concerts, graduations, weddings and corporate events.
Monarch-Chesterfield Levee Trail
The Monarch-Chesterfield Levee Trail is a 17-mile trail that will encompass the majority of commercial, industrial, and recreational land used in Chesterfield Valley. Bikers, walkers and skaters can enjoy the great scenery on the trail. The north trail may be accessed at the trailheads at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex or behind the Hardee’s Iceplex. The south trail, which is two miles long, can be accessed at Edison and Long roads.
The Riparian Trail
The Riparian Trail is a half mile long crushed stone and boardwalk path through the forest adjacent to Chesterfield Creek. Get up close with wildlife and nature in the heart of the city. Parking is available at the Family Aquatic Center parking lot.
Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex
The 176-acre Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex (CVAC) contains 16 ball diamonds, 14 baseball/softball practice field and 14 multi-purpose fields for soccer lacrosse, football and Ultimate Frisbee.
Miracle Field
The City of Chesterfield partnered with former St. Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols, and current St. Louis Cardinal manager, Mike Matheny, to construct an athletic field designed for children with special needs. Miracle Field was created with the belief that ever child deserves a chance to play baseball. Instead of dirt and natural grass, Miracle has a rubberized surface, making it easier for youngsters with walkers or wheelchairs to go around the bases and play different positions. Faust County Park
One of St. Louis County’s most unique parks is located in the heart of Chesterfield on Olive Boulevard. Faust Park was created in 1968 when Leicester and Mary Plant Faust donated property with the intention to forever preserve the original estate of Governor Frederick Bates. The park, consisting of nearly 200 acres, is a historical showpiece and caretaker to several of the oldest and most interesting homes in the area.
The St. Louis Carousel was built in 1921 and first installed at the Forest Park Highlands, which burned to the ground in 1963, with the carousel being the only thing unharmed. Thanks to the St. Louis County Historic buildings Commission and Faust Historic Buildings Sites Foundation, the carousel was restored to its original beauty and installed in Faust Park in 1987. The carousel is open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The building is also used for weddings, parties, children’s programs and other activities.
Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House
A crown jewel in Faust County Park, the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Considered to be one of the best butterfly houses in the world, this impressive attraction includes an 8,000 square-foot glass Tropical Conservatory as well as an exhibit hall, Lucy Lopata Learning Lab, Emerson Theater, Butterfly Gift Shop, the outdoor Butterfly Garden, Emerson Lakeside terrace and Monsanto Teaching Pavilion.
Inside the conservatory, visitors are surrounded by more than 1,000 tropical butterflies in free flight which represent more than 60 species from around the world. In addition, to self-guided tours, regular events at the Butterfly House include educational programs for all ages, lectures, and daytime and evening events for children.
Kemp Auto Museum
The home of a collection of classic and internationally renowned automobiles focused on Mercedes-Benz. Open Wednesday through Sunday, the museum is celebrated for the scope and rarity of its collection.
